Online Giving Now Available!

Howdy all! I just wanted to update the blog real quick and let everyone know that we now offer a way for you to tithe and give online! Now, why are we doing this? There really are a few reasons that I'd like to discuss and explain.

1.) The first, and obvious, main reason we've set up online giving is because of our current "stay-at-home" order due to the COVID-19 outbreak. This is simply to help facilitate giving and tithing from our church members and regular attenders during this time to help continue supporting the work and ministry of Crossroads.

2.) The second, and probably less obvious, reason is that online giving is part of moving our church into the 21st Century. While I know that CBC was founded IN the 21st Century (lol), let's be honest friends, many of us are still skeptical when it comes to anything online, especially finances. That's understandable. In our day and age when we've seen retailers, banks, et al... hacked and held hostage, who can blame a person for not wanting to trust something like online giving?

Still, that said, online giving, online paying, online shopping is simply the way of life in 2020. Also, if we really sit down and consider current events with the COVID-19 pandemic, we understand that sheltering-in-place is going to become a somewhat regular occurrance until we have a better handle on this particular strain of coronavirus. We also have to consider that our lives will be different for the forseeable future. Whether that is wearing facemasks on a regular basis or stopping the practice of handshaking, life will seem odd for a couple of years.

Therefore, the need to be able to function online during times like this is paramount. We're fortunate to live in an era where the church can still connect through resources like the Internet, Facebook, and even text messaging and phone calls. During the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918-19, these were not resources at the disposal of the church to implement. So, why not take advantage?

Another aspect to online giving and moving CBC into 2020 is that, while we are a smaller church, many folks simply don't carry cash or checks on them any more. The ONLY time I have cash on me is if I've intentionally gone to the ATM to grab some cash so I can get a haircut! Otherwise, I never carry cash. Folks of my generation and younger (and more than a few in the generations older that mine) no longer carry cash either. While that might (and I stress might here) change due to COVID and this weird new world we may enter afterwards, online giving is the norm in many places. Does that mean the church should just fall in line and do it? Not at all. BUT, at the same time, we MUST consider simple, easy ways in which we can reach the "online" generation without compromising our biblical principles or compromising the faith. Online giving is not a sin. If you choose not to do it, that's perfectly fine! Still, we can have this option (which is fully insured) for folks who want to take advantage of it without any cost to the church. And that's a-okay.

With that said, HOW does one give to CBC online?

It's pretty simple. Just go to our home page on this website, scroll all the way to the bottom and you'll see a button to "Give." Click the "give" button and it will take you to our Paypal page. While you do not have to set up a profile, if you desire to have your giving statement for tax purposes, be sure to at least put your name. Otherwise, you are more than welcome to give anonymously.

That's it my friends! While we're locked down and unable to meet in person due to COVID, don't forget that we are still to give our tithes and offerings to the Lord. Giving is a spiritual discipline, but it's also a command from Jesus (Matthew 6).

Grace and Peace in Jesus!
